Vaporeon doesn't stand out in any single area, but it gets the job done for in-game teams. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Been around since Gen 1. Known as the Bubble Jet Pokemon. Its damage comes from the special side.
Vaporeon's built to absorb hits, not race for knockouts. Special bulk with HP doing the heavy lifting. And the medium-fast 1M XP curve means it won't take forever to bring up, worth 2 HP stat exp.
Its cell structure is similar to water molecules. It will melt away and become invisible in water.
Vaporeon Weakness
AvgType-wise, Vaporeon takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. Not many exploitable gaps in the Water typing defensive chart. Vaporeon's special bulk (base 110 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
Eevee's chain leads to Vaporeon (using a Water Stone). A Water type at 540 stats, sitting in the Undiscovered group. Vaporeon edges out Jolteon by 15 total stats (540 vs 525). HP is where most of the advantage lives.

The level-up pool tells the story here. Vaporeon learns Hydro Pump and Blizzard naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Normal and Dark coverage extends the reach beyond that.

You're catching Eevee first, not Vaporeon. Eevee appears but it's a rare spawn in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.

Vaporeon works as a tank with 540 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list — a situational pick that fills a niche. That 130 base HP does the heavy lifting.
Vaporeon is a special attacker with base 110 Special. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — at base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the tank role.
Vaporeon appears in 22 games, including Yellow, Red & Blue, and Gold & Silver.
Present since Red & Blue, Vaporeon appears in 22 games spanning 9 generations. Gen 1 originals like Vaporeon have the longest track record of availability in the series.
