Stats & Training
The stat bars tell the story: Defense carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Hermit Crab Pokemon still yields 2 Defense stat exp per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Slowbro Weakness
Slowbro is weak to Electric and Grass. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. The Water/Psychic typing picks up 5 resistances to work with. Slowbro's physical bulk (base 110 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Fighting, Psychic |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Most of Slowbro's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Psychic and Surf, but Normal and Ice and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Slowbro Guide
In Red & Blue, Slowbro works as a trick room with 470 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Red & Blue for the right team. Amnesia anchors the moveset.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Red & Blue, but Slowbro does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Slowbro hits 570 BST.
In Red & Blue, Slowbro's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric) and Exeggutor (Grass), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Slowbro won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Slowbro is a special attacker with base 80 Special. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the trick room role.
For Red & Blue, the core moveset is Amnesia, Rest, Surf, and Thunder Wave. Amnesia leads at 25% usage. Surf provides reliable STAB damage.
Game Availability
Available since Red & Blue, Slowbro appears in 21 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 7 and a Galarian form in Generation 8.
