Slowbro Best Moveset
110 Defense at 100 Sp. Atk with AbilityRegenerator healing a third of max HP every time it switches out. Held ItemLeftovers with NatureBold creates one of the most durable physical answers in the format. The moveset absorbs physical hits, fires back with Psychic and Water TermStab, and pivots out to heal. Tera changes the type matchup without losing Regenerator.
Amnesia doubled Special in one turn in Gen I (Red & Blue), covering both Sp. Atk and Sp. Def. Slowbro became nearly unkillable after a single boost.

The Special split meant Amnesia now only boosted Sp. Def, not Sp. Atk. Slowbro was still bulky enough to wall physical attackers, just less threatening offensively.

Own Tempo prevented confusion. Slack Off provided reliable recovery, and Slowbro's 110 Defense tanked physical hits all day in Gen III (Ruby & Sapphire).

Stayed consistent in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). Slack Off kept it healthy, and few physical attackers could break through 110 Defense without a super-effective hit.

Regenerator arrived as a hidden ability and was a perfect fit. Switch out, heal a third of your HP, switch back in. Free recovery without spending a turn.

Mega Slowbro was a defensive wall, but even base Slowbro with Regenerator reached the top tier in Gen VI (X & Y). Fairy-type couldn't threaten its Psychic STAB.

Lost some ground in Gen VII (Sun & Moon) as stronger wallbreakers emerged. Still effective but not quite the force it was in the previous gen.

Back at the top in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Regenerator plus Teleport pivoting made Slowbro one of the best defensive pivots in the entire game.

Teleport kept it useful in Gen IX (Scarlet & Violet) but the metagame was faster. Slowbro still worked as a physical wall, just not as dominant.

Slowbro Weakness
Slowbro is weak to Electric, Grass, Bug, Ghost, and Dark. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Slowbro's physical bulk (base 110 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass, Bug, Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Fighting, Psychic, Steel |

Base Stats
The stat bars tell the story: Defense carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Hermit Crab Pokemon still yields 2 Defense EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
When a Slowpoke went hunting in the sea, its tail was bitten by a Shellder. That made it evolve into Slowbro.
Slowbro Guide
Slowbro looks average on paper at 490 BST. But Regenerator is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier tank on our tier list.
Yes. Mega Slowbro is the evolved form, sitting at 590 BST. Big power spike over base Slowbro (490). Equip the Mega Stone and it transforms in battle.
Slowbro's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric), Exeggutor (Grass), and Scyther (Bug), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Ghost and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Slowbro won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Slowbro gets Regenerator, Oblivious, and Own Tempo. But Regenerator is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Slowbro is a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the tank role.
Game Availability
Available since Red & Blue, Slowbro appears in 21 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6 and a Galarian form in Generation 8.
