Flash Fire absorbs Fire moves and powers up its own, adding real value on top of Flareon's already solid stats. Fire typing means only weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. An original Gen 1 pick.

The stat budget goes to damage. Attack and Sp. Def carry the offense, Defense doesn't even come close. A Flame Pokemon on a medium-fast 1M XP curve, worth 2 Attack EVs per KO.

Flareon Weakness

Avg

Flareon is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock-type moves. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Flash Fire grants an additional Fire immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

This is a pure walling set. Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn so Flareon sticks around, and the Sassy nature reinforces slow wall. Wish handles sustain while Flashfire does work passively.

Flareon doesn't appear wild. Catch Eevee instead, it shows up at solid rates. Evolve it through a special method to get Flareon. The 2-stage line is mapped in the step cards below.

  2. Flareon
    Step 2Flareon
  • Flash Fire changes the entire equation for Flareon. The 525 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker.

  • Flareon's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Rhydon (Ground), and Golem (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Eevee evolves into Flareon using a Fire Stone. Flareon is the final evolution in a 9-stage line starting from Eevee. At 525 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Flash Fire is what you want on Flareon. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Guts) work on paper but Flash Fire is what makes Flareon worth using. Flash Fire synergizes with Flareon's base 110 Sp.Def, letting it soak special attacks as a pivot.

  • At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Flareon is a special attacker with base 95 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • Flareon appears in 22 games, including Yellow, Red & Blue, and Gold & Silver.

One of the original 151, Flareon has appeared in 22 games — nearly every mainline game. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
