Trade
Metapod cannot be caught in this game. It must be traded in from a compatible game where it appears in the wild. Cross-region trading typically becomes available after defeating the Elite Four. Alternatively, transfer the pre-evolution and level it up to Lv 7.

How to Get Shiny Metapod in Emerald
Metapod is a LeafGreen and FireRed catch, its shiny cocoon appearing in Viridian Forest; snag one there, or evolve a shiny Caterpie you hunted, then trade the result into Emerald. See every game where Shiny Metapod can be hunted
Metapod Weakness
Metapod's Bug typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Flying, and Rock. Metapod's physical bulk (base 55 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Flying, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting, Ground |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
