WRECKING BALL HERO COUNTERS

Wrecking Ball feeds on chaos but folds to crowd control. Stuns, roots, hacks, and freezes pull him out of roll form and turn his Piledriver dives into suicide runs. Sombra hack is the single strongest counter because it cancels Adaptive Shield and Roll simultaneously, stranding him as a fat stationary target. If your team has two or more CC sources, Wrecking Ball can't play the game.

Wrecking Ball's top counters are Ramattra, Wuyang, and Sombra.

FAQ

  • Sombra, Orisa, and Junkrat make Wrecking Ball's life miserable. Sombra hack cancels Roll form, Adaptive Shield, and Grappling Claw all at once. Orisa javelin and Fortify stop his slam engagement. Junkrat Steel Trap catches him mid-roll and the Concussion Mine follow-up finishes him.

  • Wrecking Ball sits at C Tier right now with a 51.5% win rate and 2.6% pick rate across all ranks. Below average in the current patch. You can still win with Wrecking Ball but the meta favors other tanks.

  • Stack crowd control. Any single CC ability pulls Wrecking Ball out of Roll form and makes him a massive target. Two CC abilities back-to-back guarantees the kill. If your team draft has Sombra, Mei, or Brigitte, Wrecking Ball should never get value from a single engage.

  • CC dependent gameplay. Wrecking Ball's entire value comes from Roll form movement and Piledriver. Any stun, hack, root, or freeze strips both and he's standing still at 600 HP with the largest hitbox among non-Mauga tanks. He also feeds ult charge constantly because his playstyle puts him in the middle of the enemy team.

  • Orisa javelin interrupts Roll and Fortify blocks Piledriver displacement. Doomfist Rocket Punch catches him mid-roll and the stun cancels momentum. Ramattra Nemesis Form punches connect easily on his massive hitbox when he's CC'd out of Roll.

  • Sombra hack is the hardest counter in the game. It strips everything. Junkrat Steel Trap catches him in common roll paths for a free kill. Ashe Dynamite lands on his huge hitbox every time and Coach Gun knocks him off trajectory. Emre ADS burst chunks him between rolls.

  • Wuyang Guardian Wave knockback interrupts Roll momentum. Ana Sleep Dart catches him mid-air during Piledriver for a satisfying midair nap. Brigitte Shield Bash stuns him out of roll form and Whip Shot pushes him off course.
