ANA HERO COUNTERS

Ana controls fights from the backline with Sleep Dart and Biotic Grenade, two of the strongest non-ultimate abilities in Overwatch. Countering her means closing distance before she can land anti-nade on your frontline, because that one grenade swing entire teamfights by cutting off all healing. Dive tanks and flankers force Ana to use Sleep Dart defensively on herself instead of offensively on your team. If she misses the dart, she has no self-peel for 14 seconds.

Ana's top counters are Lifeweaver, Doomfist, and Illari.

FAQ

  • Doomfist and Genji are Ana's worst nightmares. Doomfist dives her from angles Sleep Dart can't cover, and his combo kills before her team can peel. Genji deflects her shots, dashes through the dart, and Dragonblade forces her to burn everything on herself. Sombra hack also shuts her down since Ana depends on abilities more than almost any other support.

  • Ana sits at B Tier right now with a 46.7% win rate and 23.8% pick rate across all ranks. Solid but not dominant. Works well in the right hands and team comps.

  • Get on top of her. Ana has zero mobility and no escape ability. Once you close the gap, she has to land a panic Sleep Dart or she dies. Bait the dart by strafing unpredictably, then commit hard. If she's scoped in healing a teammate, she won't see you coming from behind.

  • No mobility at all. Ana walks at normal speed with no movement abilities, making her the easiest support to dive in the game. She also has to choose between healing her team and defending herself, and Sleep Dart's 14-second cooldown means one miss leaves her exposed.

  • Doomfist is the tank that terrifies Ana players. His Seismic Slam closes distance instantly, and Rocket Punch finishes before her team rotates. Winston also works because Jump Pack gets past her backline positioning and Tesla Cannon hits through scope.

  • Genji is the classic DPS counter. Deflect sends her shots and grenade back, Swift Strike closes the gap, and Dragonblade forces a dart she can't afford to miss. Sombra hack strips all her abilities and she's left with just an unscoped rifle at close range.

  • Lifeweaver actually counters Ana hard. Life Grip pulls her anti-nade targets to safety before the debuff matters, and Petal Platform repositions teammates out of her sightlines. Illari can also out-duel her at range with Solar Rifle burst.
