  • Hinox Behavior:
When encountering a Hinox, you will most likely find it sleeping which will give you time to prepare or to run away. However, if it has awoken or is already awake, there are multiple ways to fight it, either from a distance or up close.

  • Combat:
When fighting a Hinox up close, you can deal massive amounts of damage quite quickly depending on how much damage your weapons do and how fast they swing. However, fighting like this leaves you vulnerable to multiple powerful attacks from the Hinox. Such as; when standing in front of it, it will clasp its hands together to squash Link- and even flop down onto the ground causing a shockwave that damages Link quite badly if not prepared. You can avoid the hand clasps by approaching from the back or side; however, that won't stop it from flopping on the ground and the only way to avoid that is by fighting from a distance or backing up before it gets you with the shockwave. When Link is considered far enough away, the Hinox will rip up a tree from the ground and toss it, and Blue Hinoxes throw small rocks, while Black Hinoxes use Bomb Barrels. You can counteract this by using the Recall Ability to send it right back at the Hinox.

  • Weakness:
You can stop a Hinox dead in its tracks by shooting it in the eye, which will cause it to grab its face in pain and sit on the ground- from here you can continue shooting or close the distance to fight personally.

  • Armor and Vulnerabilities:
Blue and Black Hinoxes wear rough leg protectors made of wood and metal. However, you can use their armor against them with the right attacks. Wooden leg protectors can be destroyed with fire, and metal ones conduct electricity. So, if you hit Black Hinoxes with Electric attacks, they'll be stunned. Gloom Hinox are found in the Depths and are corrupted by Gloom, making them stronger and can damage Link's Hearts with Gloom- it's best to be prepared with Anti-Gloom Food and Armor before engaging.
