The Great Fairies in Tears of The Kingdom are NPCs that provide upgrades to your equipment in exchange for Rupees and Materials obtained by exploring the world, this allows you to increase the defensive capabilities of your armor and protect you better against enemy attacks. However, when first encountering a Great Fairy, they will be hidden away in their bud and refuse to come out unless they hear the sound of their favorite instrument- this will begin a somewhat large sidequest involving the four Great Fairies found around Hyrule. You can visit any of the Great Fairies to begin the quest, however, to progress you will need to help Great Fairy Tera who is found right nearby to Woodland Stable. Above is the location of the Stable and by extension, Tera- and below we will list the steps needed to help this Great Fairy and the path to her while transporting the band. Note: The stable icon is the Band and the icon of the Great Fairy's Bulb represents the Great Fairy.

  1. First, go to Woodland Stable and speak to a man named Mastro who can be found outside standing on a small stage.
  2. Before continuing, make sure you earn enough Pony Points to obtain the Towing Harness from the Stable. This can be done by registering horses, paying for a bed in the stable and, by speaking to the man behind the counter at every stable.
  3. After speaking to Mastro, you will need to fix his wagon by attaching the wheels back onto it.
  4. Once fixing the wagon, you will need to acquire a horse to pull the wagon, you can do that by changing your horse's gear and giving it a Towing Harness. This can be done with any of your registered horses.
  5. Connect the repaired Wagon to the Towing Harness and speak to Mastro.
  6. Tow the Wagon to the Great Fairy up the hill to the West.
  7. After getting there and watching the cutscene, you will now have access to this Great Fairy and her ability to upgrade your gear.
After finding the Great Fairy Tera, you can now move onto the next Fairy found near Snowfield Stable in the Hebra region. Before you can help this great fairy, you will need to find a member of the band by the name of Eustus. Above is a map of the location of the Great Fairy Mija and below is a map showing the location of Eustus and the steps needed to help him and the Great Fairy. Below will also be an image to show where to bring the band, Note: The stable icon is the Band and the icon of the Great Fairy's Bulb represents the Great Fairy.
  1. Speak to Mastro at the Snowfield Stable and go to the location shown above.
  2. After finding Eustus, you will learn he has fallen into a hole with his wagon and will not leave without it. You can prepare the wagon to leave the hole by attaching a balloon and inserting a fire emitter- or lit torch inside of it. Note: There are a lot of ways to get him out of this hole, but any way is valid as long as he gets out along with his wagon.
  3. He will take his leave back towards Snowfield Stable, meet him and the band there.
  4. Once returning to the Stable and talking to Mastro, he will inform you that the Wagon needs a roof. You can attach a piece of wood lying nearby to the top of the Wagon to do this.
  5. Afterwards, speak to Mastro again, which will move all of the members into the Wagon, which you can once again pull using a Towing Harness towards the Great Fairy North of the Stable.
  6. Watch the cutscene and you will now be able to make use of the Great Fairy Mija's power to upgrade your armor.
Now, after finding and helping the Great Fairy Mija you will find the next Great Fairy named Kaysa beside Outskirt Stable who will also wish to hear the sound of a specific instrument. This is when you will need to find the next band member named Pyper. Above is a map location of the Great Fairy, and below is the map location of Pyper and the steps needed to help both of them. An image will be included below of where to bring the band, Note: The stable icon is the Band and the icon of the Great Fairy's Bulb represents the Great Fairy.
  1. First, speak to Mastro at the Outskirt Stable.
  2. Next, go to Highland Stable to the South and speak to Pyper. He can be found in a tree outside and can be heard playing his instrument.
  3. Pyper will ask you for ten Fireflies. These can be collected by crouching and sneaking up on the glowing bugs that are found at night, and can be found rather easily in the forest nearby called Finra Woods.
  4. After collecting the Fireflies, bring them to Pyper.
  5. He will then ask you to speak to the young girl named Haite during the night while it isnt raining and tell her to follow you to the tree.
  6. After doing so, a cutscene will play of Pyper playing a song to the girl, and afterwards he will be off to Outskirt Stable. Meet him there.
  7. Now, speak to Mastro. He will explain that the road to the Great Fairy is blocked with rock rubble and says the Wagon can not make it over it.
  8. Nearby there is a slab of stone with four Wheels and a Steering Stick- connect these all together and connect the Wagon atop.
  9. Speak to Mastro again and take the Band to the top of the hill over the rocks blocking the path.
  10. Finally, watch the cutscene. Now you will have access to the Great Fairy Kaysa and her ability to Upgrade your clothing.
After helping the Great Fairy Kaysa, head off towards Dueling Peaks Stable to the final fairy named Cotera. She also, much like the other Great Fairies, she wishes to hear the sound of a specific instrument. One which is played by a member called Beetz. The location of the Great Fairy is above, and the location of Beetz himself is below. The path needed to take the band to the great fairy will be below. Note: The stable icon is the Band and the icon of the Great Fairy's Bulb represents the Great Fairy.
  1. First, Speak to Mastro at the Dueling Peaks Stable.
  2. Next, on the road to Kakariko Village, find Beetz off to the side of the trail and speak to him.
  3. He will ask for three Courser Bee Honey, if you do not have any, you can find some up the hill north of Kakariko on some trees.
  4. After obtaining the honey and giving it to him, he will return back to the Band at the Stable. Meet him there.
  5. Once there and after speaking to Mastro, you will learn you need to make a boat that can carry the Band and its wagon across the river to the Great Fairy. You can do this by using the wood, Fans and, a Steering Stick nearby on the destroyed bridge.
  6. Once across, watch the cutscene. You will now, finally, have access to the Great Fairy Cotera and her abilities, along with the chance to fully upgrade your clothing to the max.
