Spiritomb Best Moveset
Ghost/Dark at 108/108 balanced defenses with only Fairy hitting super-effectively. AbilityInfiltrator bypasses Substitute and screens. Held ItemLeftovers with NatureRelaxed absorbs hits from both sides. 92/92 mixed offenses fire Ghost and Dark TermStab at moderate power. The moveset is defensive utility behind one of the best defensive typings. 35 Speed means always going last.
Dark/Ghost with NO weaknesses in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). Fairy type didn't exist yet. Pressure wasted PP, and nothing hit Spiritomb super-effectively. Will-O-Wisp controlled matchups.

Wall Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Shadow Ball

Same zero-weakness typing in Gen V (Black & White). But 92 base offenses couldn't threaten enough, and 35 Speed was painfully slow.
Wall Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Dark Pulse
- Toxic
- Confuse Ray
Recommended Teammates
Fairy typing gave Spiritomb its first-ever weakness in Gen VI (X & Y). From zero weaknesses to one, and that one was the most popular new type around.
Wall Moveset
- Sucker Punch
- Toxic
- Foul Play
- Curse
Recommended Teammates
Fairy coverage was everywhere in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Spiritomb went from nothing hits it to Fairy hits it and Fairy is everywhere.
Wall Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Dark Pulse
- Shadow Sneak
- Pain Split
Recommended Teammates
Fell to the bottom in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). 35 Speed, mediocre offenses, and a Fairy weakness every team could exploit.
Bulky Support Moveset
- Sucker Punch
- Dark Pulse
- Will O Wisp
- Hypnosis
Recommended Teammates
Same in Gen IX (Scarlet & Violet). The zero-weakness gimmick that defined Spiritomb was permanently broken by Fairy's introduction three gens earlier.

- Will O Wisp
- Pain Split
- Foul Play
- Shadow Sneak

Spiritomb Weakness
Type-wise, Spiritomb takes extra damage from Fairy. Normal, Fighting, and Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. With 50 HP and balanced defenses, Spiritomb can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fairy |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Poison |
| 0x (Immune) | Normal, Fighting, Psychic |

Base Stats
Bulk defines Spiritomb's stat line. Defense and Sp. Def anchor the defensive side, but Speed can't keep up offensively. Moderately hard to find and worth 2 Defense and Sp. Def EVs.
It was formed by uniting 108 spirits. It has been bound to the Odd Keystone to keep it from doing any mischief.
Spiritomb Guide
We rate Spiritomb C-Tier: a situational pick that fills a niche. At 485 BST, it fits the trick room role. Base 108 Defense stands out.
Spiritomb's biggest threats include Gardevoir (Fairy), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 35 Speed, Spiritomb won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Pressure is the go-to ability for Spiritomb. It increases the PP cost of moves targetting the Pokémon by one. Its hidden ability Infiltrator can work in specific setups.
Base 35 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Spiritomb is a mixed attacker with base 92 Attack and 92 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a trick room.
The core moveset is Will O Wisp, Painsplit, Foulplay, and Shadow Sneak. Will O Wisp leads at 0% usage. This set covers the trick room role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Available in 13 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Spiritomb spans 7 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
