Base Stats
Phantump's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Speed trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 1 Attack EV, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
After a lost child perished in the forest, their spirit possessed a tree stump, causing the spirit’s rebirth as this Pokémon.
Phantump Guide
Phantump evolves into Trevenant via trade. Trade needs a Game Boy Advance link cable and a second GBA running another Gen 3 game (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald). Trade Phantump to a friend, then have them trade it back. The 2026 Switch re-release supports the same trade through local wireless on the Pokemon Center 2F Wireless Club, with no cables required.
Phantump does the job early-game if you need a Ghost/Grass type on your team. Evolve it into Trevenant before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
Game Availability
Introduced in X & Y, Phantump has appeared in 7 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
