Trevenant punches above its weight class thanks to Natural Cure. It clears status conditions when it switches out, which is enough to make up for stats that don't impress on their own. Normal and Fighting moves can't touch it, which offsets the 5 weaknesses somewhat.
Attack and HP carry most of Trevenant's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
People fear it due to a belief that it devours any who try to cut down trees in its forest, but to the Pokémon it shares its woods with, it’s kind.
Small roots that extend from the tips of this Pokémon’s feet can tie into the trees of the forest and give Trevenant control over them.
Trevenant Weakness
AvgFire, Ice, Flying, Ghost, and Dark-type moves hit Trevenant for super-effective damage. The upside? Normal and Fighting-type moves can't touch it at all. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses.
Getting Trevenant requires a trade, not just grinding levels. The chain starts at Phantump. Breed this form to get Phantump eggs (average hatch time). HP grew the most through evolution (+42 over Phantump), and Trevenant peaks at 474 total stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Trevenant to get Phantump eggs easily using 43 partners from the Indeterminate and Plant egg groups. Notable egg moves include Disable, Grudge, Sucker Punch.
Start with max Attack without Speed EVs. Hardy nature gives Trevenant the right balanced lean, Sitrus Berry adds a one-time health recovery at low HP, and Harvest works in the background. Poltergeist is the main damage option.

Without breeding, Trevenant misses out on Disable and Grudge. That's 3 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Leaf Storm and Wood Hammer, with coverage across 8 types rounding things out.

Trevenant's 2-stage line starts with Phantump, which appears at decent rates in the locations below. Level through 2 stages while you find a trade partner. Everything except the trade step is solo.

Step 2Trevenant ✓
Natural Cure changes the entire equation for Trevenant. The 474 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as an attacker.
Phantump evolves into Trevenant by trading. Trevenant is the fully evolved form. It sits at 474 BST in its evolved form.
Natural Cure is what you want on Trevenant. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Frisk, Harvest) work on paper but Natural Cure is what makes Trevenant worth using.
At base 56 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Trevenant is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as an attacker.
Trevenant appears in 7 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Trevenant joined the series in X & Y and has been available in 7 titles so far. With 4 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
