Trevenant Weakness

Fire, Ice, Flying, Ghost, and Dark moves hit Trevenant for super-effective damage. The upside? Normal and Fighting-type moves can't touch it at all. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses.

X & Y Trevenant Best Moveset

Start with max HP and Attack EVs. Adamant nature gives Trevenant the right physical lean, Sitrus Berry adds a one-time health recovery at low HP, and Harvest works in the background. Phantomforce is the main damage option.

Trevenant Guide

  • In X & Y, Natural Cure changes the entire equation for Trevenant. The 474 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as an attacker. Phantomforce with Sitrus Berry is the standard set.

  • In X & Y, watch for Volcarona (Fire), Lapras (Ice), and Staraptor (Flying) when using Trevenant. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Ghost and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Natural Cure is what you want on Trevenant. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Frisk, Harvest) work on paper but Natural Cure is what makes Trevenant worth using.

  • At base 56 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Trevenant is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as an attacker.

  • In X & Y, run Phantomforce, Leech Seed, Horn Leech, and Drain Punch on Trevenant. Phantomforce is the most common pick at 19% usage. This set covers the attacker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Trevenant joined the series in X & Y and has been available in 7 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
