Roserade Best Moveset
Elite special coverage at 125 Sp. Atk on 90 Speed cooldowns. Grass and Poison dual TermStab fires fast with serious power. 105 Sp. Def holds the special side while 60/65 physical bulk doesn't last. The moveset doesn't need Mega access to compete at this stat level.
Grass/Poison with Natural Cure and 125 Sp. Atk in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). Spikes plus Toxic Spikes on a fast special attacker. Set hazards and hit hard on the same turn.

Support Moveset
- Toxic Spikes
- Hidden Power Fire
- Spikes
- Sleep Powder
Recommended Teammates
Same Spikes plus Sleep Powder formula in Gen V (Black & White). 125 Sp. Atk made Roserade one of the few hazard setters that could threaten KOs while doing its job.
Wall Moveset
- Giga Drain
- Toxic Spikes
- Weather Ball
- Protect
Recommended Teammates
Three gens of consistent performance in Gen VI (X & Y). Natural Cure healed Toxic and Thunder Wave on switch-out, and Roserade set Spikes better than most options.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Energy Ball
- Sleep Powder
Recommended Teammates
Dropped in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Faster hazard setters and terrain effects from the Tapus limited Sleep Powder. Roserade's niche was shrinking.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed
- Hidden Power Fire
Recommended Teammates
Same level in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Spikes were still useful, but other Grass-types offered more defensive utility or offensive presence.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
Recommended Teammates
Roserade Weakness
Roserade's Grass/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic. The Grass/Poison typing picks up 5 resistances to work with. Roserade's special bulk (base 105 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Base Stats
Everything pushes toward special damage here. Roserade's Sp. Atk does the work, HP pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Sp. Atk EVs per KO. Moderately hard to find, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
After captivating opponents with its sweet scent, it lashes them with its thorny whips.
Roserade Guide
Roserade looks average on paper at 515 BST. But Natural Cure is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. B-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list.
Watch for Infernape (Fire), Lapras (Ice), and Aerodactyl (Flying) when using Roserade. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem.
Roserade gets Natural Cure, Poison Point, and Technician. But Natural Cure is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. Natural Cure synergizes with Roserade's base 105 Sp.Def, letting it soak special attacks as a pivot.
Roserade is a special attacker with base 125 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 90 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.
Run Sludge Bomb, Giga Drain, Dazzling Gleam, and Shadow Ball on Roserade. Sludge Bomb is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Since Diamond & Pearl, Roserade has been in 13 games. Requiring an item-based evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
