Base Stats
Hatterene's all-in on Sp. Atk at the expense of Speed. The special lean is obvious from the bars. Yields 3 Sp. Atk EVs and follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
Beware of forests that show no signs of living creatures within. You may have wandered into Hatterene’s territory.
Hatterene Guide
Don't let Hatterene's 510 base stat total fool you. Magic Bounce is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it A-Tier as a cannon.
Hatterene's biggest threats include Gengar (Poison), Misdreavus (Ghost), and Metagross (Steel), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. At base 29 Speed, Hatterene won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Run Magic Bounce on Hatterene. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Hatterene also gets Healer and Anticipation, but they don't compare.
Hatterene fills the cannon role. It's a mixed attacker with base 90 Attack and 136 Sp. Atk. Base 29 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Best way to handle Hatterene: Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Poison, Ghost, and Steel-type attackers hit hardest.
Game Availability
Hatterene first appeared in Sword & Shield and spans 2 games across 3 generations. It later gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
