Regice Best Moveset
200 Sp. Def on Ice with AbilityClear Body preventing stat drops. The special wall absorbs nearly anything from the special side. 100 Sp. Atk fires Ice TermStab behind the defensive frame. 100 Defense is actually decent, but Ice typing means fighting, Rock, Steel, and Fire all hit super-effectively. Too many weaknesses for the bulk to compensate.
200 Sp. Def in Gen III (Ruby & Sapphire). The highest special defense stat available. Thunder Wave plus Ice Beam walled special attackers completely. Too good for the tier below.

Bulky Support Moveset
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Explosion
- Thunder Wave
Recommended Teammates
Dropped hard in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). Physical attackers dominated the format, and 100 Defense couldn't take repeated Close Combats and Earthquakes. 200 Sp. Def was the wrong stat.
Wall Moveset
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Charge Beam
- Thunder Wave
Recommended Teammates
Same problem in Gen V (Black & White). The format got more physical, and 50 Speed meant Regice couldn't outrun threats to land Thunder Wave first.
Special Tank Moveset
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Fire
- Thunder Wave
Recommended Teammates
Knock Off removed Leftovers in Gen VI (X & Y), and without recovery the 200 Sp. Def was whittled down turn by turn.
Bulky Support Moveset
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
Recommended Teammates
Four gens at the bottom starting in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). 200 Sp. Def was a gimmick stat when the rest of the stat line was mediocre.
Special Tank Moveset
- Ice Beam
- Ancient Power
- Flash Cannon
- Charge Beam
Recommended Teammates
Five gens of irrelevance in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Pure Ice with no recovery, no Speed, and one elite stat that didn't compensate for everything else.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Charge Beam
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Rock Polish
Recommended Teammates
Seven gens since the peak in Gen IX (Scarlet & Violet). The 200 Sp. Def that defined Regice mattered less every generation as damage output climbed.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Blizzard
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
Recommended Teammates
Regice Weakness
Type-wise, Regice takes extra damage from Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. Regice's special bulk (base 200 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Fighting, Rock, Steel |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Ice |
