Regigigas Best Moveset
160 Attack, 110/110 balanced defenses, 110 HP, 100 Speed. The stat line is absurd. AbilitySlow Start halves Attack and Speed for the first five turns, which makes the first five turns of every game unplayable. The moveset is a liability for 5 turns and then becomes the strongest physical attacker in the format. No item or Tera fixes the ability.
670 BST held hostage by Slow Start in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). Attack and Speed halved for five turns. The strongest stat line in the game, crippled by its own ability.

Dropped further in Gen V (Black & White). Five turns of half power meant warming up while opponents set up freely. Team Preview made switching around it trivial.
Physical Tank Moveset
- Drain Punch
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute
- Return
Recommended Teammates
Banned from the lowest tier in Gen VI (X & Y) but useless above it. Too strong at the bottom after five turns, too weak at the top during them.
Wall Moveset
- Thunder Wave
- Zen Headbutt
- Rock Slide
- Avalanche
Recommended Teammates
Z-Moves didn't bypass Slow Start in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Protect stalling for five turns was the strategy. Opponents set up alongside and won the race.
Wall Moveset
- Zen Headbutt
- Drain Punch
- Thunder Wave
- Giga Impact

Dynamax bought time during Slow Start in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Three Dynamax turns weren't five. The ability outlasted every counter-strategy.
Physical Tank Moveset
- Power Up Punch
- Body Slam
- Substitute
- Knock Off
Recommended Teammates
Six gens of the worst ability on the best body in Gen IX (Scarlet & Violet). 160 Attack existed in the stat screen and nowhere else for five turns every battle.

Regigigas Weakness
Type-wise, Regigigas takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Regigigas's overall bulk (110/110/110) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |

Base Stats
Regigigas's all-in on Attack at the expense of Sp. Atk. The physical lean is obvious from the bars. Yields 3 Attack EVs and follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
According to legend, Regigigas pulled landmasses together and bound them with rope to create the continent of Hisui. Though I have my doubts, the story could well contain a shred of truth.
Regigigas Guide
Regigigas is a Legendary Pokemon rated B-Tier. At 670 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a wall. Base 160 Attack is where it shines.
Regigigas's biggest threats include Blaziken (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Regigigas has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Slow Start is the go-to ability for Regigigas. It halves Attack and Speed for five turns upon entering battle. It's Regigigas's only ability.
Regigigas fills the wall role. It's a physical attacker with base 160 Attack. Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
The core moveset is Drain Punch, Protect, Knock Off, and Body Slam. Drain Punch leads at 0% usage. This set covers the wall role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Regigigas has appeared in 13 games since Diamond & Pearl, spanning 7 generations. As a Legendary, it's typically a one-per-save encounter tied to the story or post-game content.
