Octillery Best Moveset
105 Attack and 105 Sp. Atk behind Water TermStab at 45 Speed. The moveset hits hard from either side, one of the few genuinely mixed attackers available. Strong Style maximizes the damage per slow turn. Pure power without any pretense of speed.
Balanced 105/105 offenses in Gen II (Gold & Silver) could hit from both sides. 45 Speed and 75 bulk across the board meant Octillery hit hard but never first.

Three gens at the same tier in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). Both 105 stats worked as intended after the physical/Special split. 45 Speed was the permanent ceiling.

Moody was the hidden ability in Gen V (Black & White), randomly boosting one stat by +2 each turn. Banned from competitive play. Without it, Octillery lost ground to faster threats.

Sniper tripled critical hit damage in Gen VI (X & Y). Focus Energy plus Sniper was the set. When crits landed, devastating. When they didn't, 45 Speed lost the game.

Base Stats
Nothing fancy in Octillery's spread. It leans mixed with Attack out front. And you'll get 2 Attack and Sp. Atk EVs per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It has a tendency to want to be in holes. It prefers rock crags or pots and sprays ink from them before attacking.
Octillery Guide
Octillery works as an attacker with 480 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a situational pick that fills a niche. That 105 base Attack does the heavy lifting.
Suction Cups is the go-to ability for Octillery. It prevents being forced out of battle by other Pokémon's moves. Its hidden ability Moody can work in specific setups. Sniper is the other option. Pick based on what your team needs.
Octillery is a mixed attacker with base 105 Attack and 105 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the attacker role.
The core moveset is Protect, Substitute, Scald, and Ice Beam. Protect leads at 0% usage. Scald provides reliable STAB damage.
Game Availability
Debuting in Gold & Silver, Octillery appears in 17 games across 9 generations. A reliable presence in most mainline games, typically found through wild encounters.
