Ruby & Sapphire New Mauville
A hidden power plant sits sealed beneath Route 110, its generator left running wild. Wattson, the Mauville Leader, hands you the Basement Key and the job of shutting it all down.
New Mauville is in Hoenn, with Route 110 to the north. In the story it comes after Lavaridge Town and before Route 118.

Blue and red switches, not corridors, decide the route through New Mauville: each toggles its matching doors, and the wrong order seals you out of a section. Flip them in the right sequence to thread the generator.

Entrance

Inside
- Step on the blue switch just south of where you arrive, then follow the south corridor west to a green switch.
- With the green barriers down, head north to the Escape Rope near the center of the plant.
- Take it and stand on the blue switch it covered to open the way north.

- Leave by battling the Voltorb ball at that room's west end and standing on its blue switch. Then beat the mid-plant one for the green switch back to Route 110.
Thunder StonePokemon Encounters
The sealed generator runs on Voltorb, Magnemite, and their evolved Electrode and Magneton, all Electric-types around level 22 to 26. Magneton and Electrode show at 1 percent for a quick fully-evolved catch.

A Thunder Stone is the generator dungeon's best find, ready to turn an Eevee into Jolteon or a Pikachu into Raichu, with Ultra Balls scattered among the machines.

New Mauville Guide
Beat Wattson for the Dynamo Badge, then later, once you can Surf, return to him in Mauville and he hands you the Basement Key with a request to shut off the generator. Surf east from Route 110 under the Cycling Road to reach the door, which the key opens for good.
Stepping on a colored floor switch opens the matching green or blue doors and closes the other color, so you toggle between them to weave through. Watch the item balls, too, since three of them are Voltorb in disguise. Wattson rewards the cleanup with TM24 Thunderbolt.
