Gigalith Best Moveset
AbilitySand Stream sets sandstorm on entry like Tyranitar and Hippowdon, and 135 Attack with 130 Defense give the moveset devastating physical power and bulk. E-tier because 25 Speed goes dead last, 80 Sp. Def is the weak point, and the sand-setting role has stronger competition from S-tier and A-tier options.
Sturdy guaranteed surviving one hit in Gen V (Black & White). Stealth Rock setter with 135 Attack. Stone Edge hit hard, but 25 Speed meant Gigalith moved last every turn.

Attack leads and Speed gets almost nothing. That's Gigalith's stat line in a nutshell. 4 stats sit in respectable range, but the spread is brutal. Tough to catch and yields 3 Attack EVs.
Although its energy blasts can blow away a dump truck, they have a limitation— they can only be fired when the sun is out.
Gigalith Guide
Sand Stream changes the entire equation for Gigalith. The 515 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a wallbreaker.
Gigalith's biggest threats include Swampert (Water), Roserade (Grass), and Lucario (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Ground and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 25 Speed, Gigalith won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Gigalith is obtained by trade-evolving Boldore. Catch or evolve a Boldore first, then trade. Trade needs a Game Boy Advance link cable and a second GBA running another Gen 3 game (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald). Trade Boldore to a friend, then have them trade it back. The 2026 Switch re-release supports the same trade through local wireless on the Pokemon Center 2F Wireless Club, with no cables required.
Sand Stream is what you want on Gigalith. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Sturdy, Sand Force) work on paper but Sand Stream is what makes Gigalith worth using. On wall sets, Sand Stream pairs with Gigalith's base 130 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.
Base 25 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Gigalith is a physical attacker with base 135 Attack. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a wallbreaker.
