Is Venusaur Good in Diamond & Pearl Playthrough?

AbilityOvergrow Grass/Poison attacker from Kanto. If imported, Venusaur handles Crasher Wake and contributes against Bertha. Roserade fills the same role natively and hits harder. The import adds nothing Sinnoh doesn't already have.

DP Venusaur Best Moveset

Grass/Poison typing blocks the Water and Fighting types common in lower tiers, and 100 on both Sp. Atk and Sp. Def means Venusaur handles special attackers while dealing real damage back. MoveSleep Powder controls momentum, and the moveset runs special Grass attacks that hit harder once AbilityOvergrow activates below a third HP.

Pokemon Diamond / Pokemon Pearl

Venusaur Diamond & Pearl Guide

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Diamond & Pearl, but Venusaur does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Venusaur hits 625 BST.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, use Venusaur as an attacker. Splits damage between physical and special. Speed is middling,

  • For Diamond & Pearl, build your team around Blastoise and Snorlax. These have the highest co-usage rates with Venusaur in competitive formats. They cover each other's weaknesses.

  • For Diamond & Pearl, run Calm on Venusaur. +Sp. Def is what matters, and the -Attack cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the attacker role.

  • Gigantamax Venusaur is exclusive to Sword & Shield, so it's not usable in Diamond & Pearl. The form has a unique appearance and a signature G-Max move.

Game Availability

Venusaur first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 21 games across 9 generations. It later gained a Mega form in Generation 6 and a Gigantamax form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
