Is Venusaur Good in Platinum Playthrough?

Final form of the Bulbasaur import chain. Grass/Poison handles Crasher Wake's Water gym fine, but Roserade, Torterra, and Tangrowth already cover that matchup. More competition than Diamond and Pearl offered.

Pokemon Platinum

Venusaur Platinum Guide

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Platinum, but Venusaur does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Venusaur hits 625 BST.

  • In Platinum, use Venusaur as an attacker. Splits damage between physical and special. Speed is middling,

  • For Platinum, build your team around Blastoise and Snorlax. These have the highest co-usage rates with Venusaur in competitive formats. They cover each other's weaknesses.

  • For Platinum, run Calm on Venusaur. +Sp. Def is what matters, and the -Attack cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the attacker role.

  • Gigantamax Venusaur is exclusive to Sword & Shield, so it's not usable in Platinum. The form has a unique appearance and a signature G-Max move.

Game Availability

Venusaur first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 21 games across 9 generations. It later gained a Mega form in Generation 6 and a Gigantamax form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
