Trapinch cannot be caught in this game. It must be traded in from a compatible game where it appears in the wild. On GBA, cross-region trading unlocks post-game after Celio's Sevii Islands Ruby & Sapphire quest. The Switch re-release supports only one-way transfers out to Pokemon HOME.

FRLG Trapinch Best Moveset

100 Attack is surprisingly high for a pre-evolution, and AbilityArena Trap traps grounded opponents, preventing switches. 10 Speed means acting last always. MoveEarthquake from trapped targets is the moveset's only play. Vibrava and Flygon lose Arena Trap on evolution, making Trapinch's locking unique in the line.
