Is Vaporeon Good in FireRed & LeafGreen Playthrough?
Water immunity through AbilityWater Absorb heals Vaporeon instead of hurting it. The HP pool is enormous. Handles Blaine and Giovanni through Water. The Eevee evolution for players who need a bulky Water-type and missed Starmie or Lapras. Absorbs hits and outlasts.

Espeon cannot be caught in this game. On original GBA, transfer it in via Link Cable from a compatible Generation III game. There is no equivalent route on Switch FireRed/LeafGreen — Pokémon HOME compatibility is deposit-only (FRLG → HOME), and Switch cannot connect to a GBA Link Cable.

Step 2Vaporeon ✓BREEDINGAvailableLeave a compatible parent at the Four Island Pokemon Day Care to receive a Vaporeon egg. Requires the Rainbow Pass to access Four Island.
Vaporeon Weakness
Type-wise, Vaporeon takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. The Water typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Vaporeon's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Steel |

Breeding's the move. Charm and Curse give Vaporeon options it can't learn any other way, and Normal and Dark coverage and more already covers a decent range on top of Hydro Pump and Surf. The egg moves push it further.
