Quilladin Weakness

Quilladin's Grass typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Quilladin's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Quilladin Guide

  • Quilladin isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Chesnaught to unlock its full potential. At 405 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Watch for Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Quilladin. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Overgrow strengthens grass moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Quilladin. Bulletproof is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Quilladin fills the hazard setter role. It's a physical attacker with base 78 Attack. At base 57 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Quilladin does the job early-game if you need a Grass type on your team. Evolve it into Chesnaught before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

Game Availability

Introduced in X & Y, Quilladin has appeared in 6 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
