Metang cannot be caught in this game. It must be traded in from a compatible game where it appears in the wild. On GBA, cross-region trading unlocks post-game after Celio's Sevii Islands Ruby & Sapphire quest. The Switch re-release supports only one-way transfers out to Pokemon HOME. Alternatively, transfer the pre-evolution and level it up to Lv 20.

How to Get Metang in FireRed & LeafGreen
Metang evolves from Beldum at level 20. Since Beldum is a gift-only Pokemon in Hoenn post-Champion, trading one in after the Hoenn save earns it is the FRLG requirement.

Metang Weakness
Metang's Steel/Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire and Ground. It shrugs off Poison-type attacks completely. 8 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. With 60 HP and balanced defenses, Metang can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Without TMs, Metang's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get coverage across 8 types on top of Psychic and Meteor Mash for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.
