AbilityRegenerator heals a third of 114 HP every switch, and MoveSpore puts opponents to sleep at 100% accuracy. Held ItemHeavy Duty Boots blocks TermEntry Hazards damage. NatureBold at 70/80 defenses absorbs physical hits. The moveset pivots in, fires Spore, absorbs a hit, pivots out, heals. The cycle never ends. Tera Poison boosts the defensive profile.
Regenerator plus Spore in Gen V (Black & White). 114/70/80 bulk wasn't impressive on paper, but switching out to heal 33% HP every time made Amoonguss last all game.

Regenerator and Spore were still the same strong tools in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Amoonguss didn't climb back up, but it held its ground at a consistent level.

Base Stats
Amoonguss's spread is anchored by HP, with balanced defenses backing it up. Speed is the clear weak point. Worth 2 HP EVs per KO, and the medium-fast 1M XP curve keeps leveling painless.
Be wary of the poisonous spores it releases. Mushrooms resembling Amoonguss’s caps will grow out of anywhere the spores touch.
Amoonguss Guide
Don't let Amoonguss's 464 base stat total fool you. Regenerator is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a support.
Run Regenerator on Amoonguss. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Amoonguss also gets Effect Spore, but they don't compare.
Amoonguss fills the support role. It's a mixed attacker with base 85 Attack and 85 Sp. Atk. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Run Toxic, Giga Drain, Clearsmog, and Foulplay on Amoonguss. Toxic is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the support role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Introduced in Black & White, Amoonguss has appeared in 9 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
