Aurorus Best Moveset
123 HP provides real staying power, and 99 Sp. Atk fires Rock and Ice TermStab with moderate special force at 58 Speed cooldowns. Five weaknesses undercut the bulk constantly. The moveset tanks through HP but the typing's defensive liabilities are real. No Mega access.
Refrigerate turned Normal moves to Ice in Gen VI (X & Y). Hyper Beam became 180 power Ice STAB. Rock/Ice with 4x Fighting and Steel weaknesses was the tradeoff.

Aurorus Weakness
Aurorus's Rock/Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting, Steel, Water, Grass, Ground, and Rock. Fighting and Steel hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Aurorus's overall bulk (123/72/92) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Fighting, Steel |
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Grass, Ground, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Normal, Ice, Poison, Flying |

Base Stats
Aurorus's spread is anchored by HP, with special bulk backing it up. Speed is the clear weak point. Worth 2 HP EVs per KO, and the medium-fast 1M XP curve keeps leveling painless.
Aurorus was restored from a fossil. It’s said that when this Pokémon howls, auroras appear in the night sky.
Aurorus Guide
Don't let Aurorus's 521 base stat total fool you. Snow Warning is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier.
Watch for Conkeldurr (Fighting), Lucario (Steel), and Greninja (Water) when using Aurorus. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Conkeldurr is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Grass, Ground, and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Run Snow Warning on Aurorus. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Aurorus also gets Refrigerate, but they don't compare.
Aurorus fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 99 Sp. Atk. At base 58 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
Run Blizzard, Ancientpower, Earthpower, and Auroraveil on Aurorus. Blizzard is the most common pick at 0% usage. Blizzard provides reliable STAB damage.
Game Availability
Introduced in X & Y, Aurorus has appeared in 6 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
