Armarouge Guide

  • Don't let Armarouge's 525 base stat total fool you. Flash Fire is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it B-Tier as a wallbreaker.

  • Armarouge's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Rhydon (Ground), and Tyranitar (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Ghost and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Run Flash Fire on Armarouge. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Armarouge also gets Weak Armor, but they don't compare. On wall sets, Flash Fire pairs with Armarouge's base 100 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.

  • Armarouge fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 125 Sp. Atk. Base 75 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • The core moveset is Armorcannon, Calm Mind, Expandingforce, and Endure. Armorcannon leads at 0% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Introduced in Scarlet & Violet, Armarouge has appeared in 2 games across 2 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
