Beautifly Best Moveset
Bug/Flying at 100 Sp. Atk and 65 Speed. The moveset runs special Bug and Flying TermStab at decent power but 60/50/50 bulk collapses on any strong hit. Moderate output with no survivability to back it up.
Weaker Butterfree in Gen III (Ruby & Sapphire). Same Bug/Flying typing, lower bulk. 100 Sp. Atk was decent but 65 Speed and Stealth Rock vulnerability capped it.
Special Tank Moveset
- Psychic
- Stun Spore
- Hidden Power Ice
- Giga Drain
Recommended Teammates
Peaked in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). Quiver Dance wasn't available yet, but Bug Buzz and Psychic coverage gave Beautifly special attacking options. 60 HP folded quickly.

Quiver Dance arrived in Gen V (Black & White), but Butterfree and Vivillon ran it better. Beautifly's 50 Defense was even worse for setting up.
Special Setup Sweeper Moveset
- Quiver Dance
- Shadow Ball
- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain

Fell in Gen VI (X & Y). 395 BST Bug/Flying with 25% Stealth Rock damage. Butterfree at least had Compound Eyes Sleep Powder. Beautifly had nothing unique.
Bulky Support Moveset
- Air Cutter
- Bug Buzz
- Quiver Dance
- Roost
Recommended Teammates
Five gens as the worse Butterfree in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Same typing, lower stats, no niche move. Even in the lowest tiers, it was the budget option.

- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain
- Electroweb
- Shadow Ball

Beautifly Weakness
Beautifly's Bug/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Rock, Fire, Electric, Ice, and Flying. Rock hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely.

Base Stats
Beautifly's built around special offense. Sp. Atk leads the charge, Defense pays for it. Tough to catch, worth 3 Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
A colorful and incredibly beautiful but also greedy Pokémon. In an effort to keep its favorite food all to itself, it will chase away Combee as they try to gather nectar.
Beautifly Guide
Watch for Golem (Rock), Charizard (Fire), and Raikou (Electric) when using Beautifly. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Golem is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage. Ice and Flying-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Beautifly has niche appeal at best. 395 base stats means you're fighting uphill by mid-game. There are better Bug/Flying Pokemon available.
Beautifly has a 395 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier: a situational pick that fills a niche. It works best as a support. Base 100 Sp. Atk is where it shines.
Swarm strengthens bug moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Beautifly. Rivalry is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Beautifly fills the support role. It's a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's fragile, can't afford to take many hits.
Game Availability
Beautifly first appeared in Ruby & Sapphire and has been available in 14 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
