Exploud Best Moveset
Held C-tier with 91/91 mixed offenses at 104 HP and hidden AbilityScrappy letting Normal TermStab hit Ghost-types directly. AbilitySoundproof blocks sound-based moves from the primary slot. The moveset runs mixed offense or special at decent HP. 63/73 across Defense and Sp. Def limit what it survives.
Soundproof gave it immunity to sound moves in Gen III (Ruby & Sapphire). Normal-type with 91 in both offenses, but nothing about Exploud was special.

Bulky Support Moveset
- Return
- Fire Blast
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
Recommended Teammates
Fell behind in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). 91 in both offenses was mediocre, and Normal STAB didn't hit anything super-effectively.
Physical Sweeper Moveset
- Ice Beam
- Hyper Voice
- Extrasensory
- Flamethrower
Recommended Teammates
Same mediocrity in Gen V (Black & White). Exploud had coverage moves but lacked the stats to use them effectively.
Physical Revenge Killer Moveset
- Retaliate
- Brick Break
- Earthquake
- Crunch
Recommended Teammates
Scrappy plus Boomburst changed everything in Gen VI (X & Y). 140-power Normal STAB that hit Ghost-types. No immunities, no meaningful resistances. Just nuclear damage.
Special Wallbreaker Moveset
- Boomburst
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
Recommended Teammates
Same Scrappy Boomburst formula in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Two gens of competitive relevance built entirely on one ability paired with one move.
Special Wallbreaker Moveset
- Boomburst
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Surf
Recommended Teammates
68 Speed meant Exploud ate a hit before firing in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Boomburst was still powerful but the delivery system was too slow and fragile.
Special Wallbreaker Moveset
- Boomburst
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast

Exploud Weakness
Exploud's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. With 104 HP and balanced defenses, Exploud can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Base Stats
Raw HP carries Exploud's bulk more than the defenses do. Defense barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A tough to catch Loud Noise Pokemon that yields 3 HP EVs on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Its howls can be heard over six miles away. It emits all sorts of noises from the ports on its body.
Exploud Guide
We rate Exploud C-Tier: a situational pick that fills a niche. At 490 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Base 104 HP stands out.
Watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Exploud. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Soundproof protects against sound-based moves. That's the one you want on Exploud. Scrappy is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
At base 68 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Exploud is a special attacker with base 91 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Run Boomburst, Surf, Ice Beam, and Overheat on Exploud. Boomburst is the most common pick at 0% usage. Boomburst provides reliable STAB damage.
Game Availability
Available in 14 titles since its debut in Ruby & Sapphire, Exploud spans 8 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
