Ghost moves don't affect Exploud at all — that's the advantage of Normal typing. It relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up. Can go either physical or special depending on the set. Introduced in Gen 3.
Raw HP carries Exploud's bulk more than the defenses do. Defense barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A tough to catch Loud Noise Pokemon that yields 3 HP EVs on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Its howls can be heard over six miles away. It emits all sorts of noises from the ports on its body.
Exploud Weakness
GoodExploud's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting moves. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. With 104 HP and balanced defenses, Exploud can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
End of the line. Exploud caps a three-stage chain that started at Whismur. Breeding produces the base form, and eggs are average hatch time. Sp.Def grew the most through evolution (+50 over Whismur), and Exploud peaks at 490 total stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Exploud to get Whismur eggs easily using 180 partners from the Ground and Monster egg groups. Notable egg moves include Circle Throw, Endeavor, Extrasensory and 6 more.
Exploud's locked into one move per switch-in with Choice Scarf, trading flexibility for speed patching through item lock. Retaliate is the go-to spam option, with Ground and Dark coverage keeping switch-ins honest.

Recommended Teammates
Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Exploud won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 11 types means it always has an effective option. Hyper Beam and Giga Impact anchor the STAB core.

You're catching Whismur first, not Exploud. Whismur appears at decent rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.
We rate Exploud C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. At 490 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Base 104 HP stands out.
Watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Exploud. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Soundproof protects against sound-based moves — that's the one you want on Exploud. Scrappy is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
At base 68 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Exploud is a mixed attacker — base 91 Attack and 91 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
