Silcoon's biggest threats include Blaziken (Fire), Dodrio (Flying), and Aerodactyl (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. At base 15 Speed, Silcoon won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Shed Skin is the go-to ability for Silcoon. It has a 33% chance of curing any major status ailment after each turn. It's Silcoon's only ability.
