Silcoon sits in the middle of its evolution line — stronger than Wurmple but not yet at full power. Most trainers push through to Beautifly as fast as possible. Part of the Gen 3 roster. Only weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock.

Nothing fancy in Silcoon's spread. It leans mixed with Defense out front. And you'll get 2 Defense EVs per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Silcoon Weakness

Avg

Type-wise, Silcoon takes extra damage from Fire, Flying, and Rock. Silcoon's physical bulk (base 55 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

A compact toolkit overall. The offense runs through Bug Bite for Silcoon, with Poison and Normal coverage doing what it can. Don't expect versatility from this one.

Silcoon isn't available in the wild in X & Y. Start by transferring Wurmple from Ruby, Emerald, or Diamond. The evolution path from Wurmple to Silcoon is covered in the steps below.

How to Obtain Silcoon in X & Y

  • At 205 BST, Silcoon is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Cascoon before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Silcoon's biggest threats include Blaziken (Fire), Dodrio (Flying), and Aerodactyl (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. At base 15 Speed, Silcoon won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Wurmple evolves into Silcoon at level 7. Silcoon evolves into Beautifly at level 10. Silcoon is a middle-stage evolution in the Wurmple line.

  • Shed Skin is the go-to ability for Silcoon. It has a 33% chance of curing any major status ailment after each turn. It's Silcoon's only ability.

  • Silcoon is leaning toward the physical side (base 35 Attack). Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 15 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Silcoon appears in 14 games, including Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, and Emerald.

Debuting in Ruby & Sapphire, Silcoon appears in 14 games across 7 generations. A reliable presence in a solid number of games, typically found through catching or hatching as a base form.
