Riven Counters Classic 26.22
Everything Riven has arrives in one chain: Broken Wings into Ki Burst, with the third dash there to knock you away. She pays no mana for it, only cooldowns, which is why poking her out never works. Take the fight in the gap right after the combo.
The play The two lanes that punish Riven worst shrug off crowd control, and her opening loses its hold.

How to Counter Riven in LoL Classic
Counter guideThree tops, three different ways of making Riven's lane miserable.
Reckless Swing reaches Riven from one step away with true damage, so Olaf is decisive here. Garen is just as decisive on his own terms, and
Demacian Justice grows as Riven's health bar empties. This one clearly favors Kennen from further out, where
Thundering Shuriken puts the first
Mark of the Storm on Riven.
Playing Olaf into Riven
Reckless Swing hurts Riven and you together. The health you lose to it returns as attack speed under Berserker Rage.

Distance is doing your work here.
Undertow throws from far out, damaging and slowing everything the axe passes through, and it stays where it fell, so collecting it brings the next throw back sooner. Skip that walk and the cooldown runs full length.
Riven gets a faster Olaf the further your health falls.
Berserker Rage ties your attack speed to the health you have lost, and
Reckless Swing adds to that total, since its true damage cuts you along with her.
Vicious Strikes runs six seconds of lifesteal and spell vamp, so your swings put health back.
Press
Ragnarok once something has already caught you. That press strips immobilizing and disabling effects off you and shuts the door on more for six seconds, with armor, magic resist and lethality riding along. Waste it early and you are bare for the long stretch before it returns.
Playing Garen into Riven
One press of Courage cuts what lands on you and takes the sting out of the crowd control with it.

Every slow on you is gone the moment
Decisive Strike goes up, and the burst of speed it adds walks you back onto Riven. The silence only lands with the attack behind it, so close the last of the distance before you swing. A swing thrown at air carries nothing.
Against
Courage, Riven meets a shield that trims a share off everything incoming and softens crowd control while it holds. Its length grows with rank, from two seconds up to six.
Judgment spins for three seconds and damages everyone standing close to you.
Health comes back at half a percent of your maximum each second, and
Perseverance starts it only after nine seconds with no champion, tower or monster damage on you. Break the trade off early to reach that window sooner. One poke from Riven puts the count back to the beginning, however small it was.
Playing Kennen into Riven
Electrical Surge supplies a steady mark setup, and this top lane clearly favors Kennen.

Electrical Surge adds extra damage and a
Mark of the Storm every few attacks. Let one of those attacks open the sequence. Riven then carries the marked state required by the ability's activation. Activate Electrical Surge for damage and another mark. A third application is still required for the stun and Energy return.
Budget Energy around
Lightning Rush. Passing through Riven deals damage, adds a mark, and gives Kennen four seconds of bonus defenses. Its cost exceeds
Thundering Shuriken at every rank, while Electrical Surge costs forty Energy. Use the rush when all three effects matter, not for a mark you could build another way.
Track the six seconds after Mark of the Storm stuns Riven. Kennen gains twenty five Energy on that completion, but another stun inside the window lasts only half a second.
Slicing Maelstrom still damages nearby enemy champions over three seconds. Leave after the shorter stun if the damage has not finished her.
