How to Get Manaphy in Diamond & Pearl
Manaphy cannot be caught anywhere in Sinnoh. It comes only from the Manaphy Egg, a special distribution tied to the Pokemon Ranger games, so the egg has to be brought in from that event.
Manaphy is not available as a wild encounter in this game.
Also Obtainable In:
Pokemon transfers only go forward through generations, never backward. Direct cross-gen trades aren't supported.
How to Get Shiny Manaphy in Diamond & Pearl
Manaphy arrives from a Pokemon Ranger egg that always hatches non-shiny, so a shiny one must be obtained elsewhere and transferred over. See every game where Shiny Manaphy can be hunted
Gen 4 Pokemon Ranger Manaphy egg: shiny only if traded to another save before hatching (1/8192), then moved up via Poke Transfer, Pokemon Bank or HOME. Every other Manaphy distribution (incl. the 2016 Mythical event) is shiny-locked.
Shiny Manaphy Evolution
Does Not EvolveManaphy Weakness
Type-wise, Manaphy takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Manaphy's overall bulk (100/100/100) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Steel |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Manaphy Evolutions
Manaphy doesn't evolve, so breeding's where the action is. You'll find no compatible partners across two egg groups, and eggs are quick to hatch. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Manaphy is genderless — breed with Ditto to get Phione eggs. Phione does not evolve into Manaphy. Part of the Fairy and Water 1 egg groups.

Moves List
TMs carry this one. Manaphy learns Surf and Dive naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Ice and Grass and beyond give it real matchup play.
