MT. MOON MAP
Collapsed since its glory days, Mt. Moon is now a single chamber linking Route 3 and Route 4. A short climb reaches Mt. Moon Square at the top, but the old maze of floors is long gone.
Pokemon Encounters
Clefairy still hides in Mt. Moon at 5 percent, the classic catch the cave is known for. Paras, Zubat, and Geodude crowd the rest of the tunnels.

Mt. Moon Guide
Time your visit for late on a Monday. Two Clefairy gather around a rock at Mt. Moon Square from Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday, and using Rock Smash on that rock turns up a Moon Stone. It returns each week, so it's a steady way to evolve the likes of Clefairy and Jigglypuff.
You're missing the badge that switches it on. Flash only lights the field once you hold the Zephyr Badge from Falkner, even after you pick up the move itself as HM05 from the elder atop Sprout Tower. Several caves call for it: Dark Cave, Kanto's Rock Tunnel, Mt. Mortar, the Whirl Islands, and the inside of Mt. Silver are all pitch black enough to leave you fumbling without it.
