Gold & Silver Goldenrod City
Johto's biggest city, with a department store, a game corner, and the Magnet Train to Kanto. Whitney's Miltank wrecks unready teams in the gym. Team Rocket seizes the Radio Tower later on.
Goldenrod City is in Johto, with Route 35 to the north and Radio Tower to the north. In the story you arrive from Route 34 to the south and continue through its entrance to Goldenrod Underground.

TRAINERS
Whitney's Miltank is the wall that ends countless playthroughs in Goldenrod, a level 20 bruiser that heals with Milk Drink and snowballs with Rollout. Bring a Fighting move or a Pokemon that can take the hit.
Goldenrod City Guide
Sixteen, double the usual eight. You clear Johto's eight Gyms first, then sail to Kanto after the Elite Four for eight more. Kanto's lineup shifted in the years since Red and Blue: Janine took over the Fuchsia Gym from her father Koga, and Blue, the old Kanto rival, now runs the Viridian Gym.
They do, thanks to the game's internal clock. Goldenrod's haircut brothers raise a Pokemon's friendship on a set schedule, some shops stock special goods only on certain days, and a few people hand out a different gift each day. Check what day it is before you write a town off as finished.
