Gold & Silver Dragon's Den

Behind Blackthorn's gym lies a sacred cavern, home to Johto's dragon-taming clan. Surf across its underground lake to claim the coveted Dragon Fang.

Dragon's Den is in Johto. In the story you arrive from Blackthorn City to the south and it comes before Route 45.

Behind Blackthorn, the Dragon's Den opens onto a wide underground pool you cross with Surf, and Whirlpool reaches the far eastern shore.

Pokemon Encounters

Behind Blackthorn, the den is the one spot to catch your own Dratini, surfacing at 10 percent on the water and the rods. Dragonair shows up on the Super Rod for a real head start on Dragonite.

Dragon's Den Guide

  • Not in these two games. The elder's quiz that hands out a Dratini was added later in Crystal. In Gold and Silver the den is where Clair sends you to fetch the Dragon Fang and earn the Rising Badge instead. You can still fish or surf up a wild Dratini in the water here, just not a gift one.
