Is Chikorita Good in Diamond & Pearl Playthrough?

Johto starter, transfer-only in Sinnoh. Meganium at 32 tanks hits but doesn't threaten much. Roserade and Torterra already fill the Grass slot natively. Chikorita had the hardest Johto playthrough, and importing it into Sinnoh doesn't improve things.

How to Get Chikorita in Diamond & Pearl

Chikorita is never offered as a starter or catch in Sinnoh. The grass starter has to enter through breeding or a migrated parent, since Diamond and Pearl build their starter trio from Sinnoh natives instead.

Chikorita is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. The Grass typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. That's a lot of weak spots to cover so team support is important.
