Rengar Counters Classic 26.22

Bodies in the lane set where Jax can arrive, since Leap Strike travels to a unit and nowhere else. A wave shoved to Rengar's turret means fewer of them stand on Jax's own side of the lane. Fights that start there give Leap Strike only forward targets.

Rengar has to be standing beside Jax before Counter Strike is worth pressing, since the stance covers far less ground than Leap Strike. Commit from further out and the stance spends its window on empty air.

Jax gets Empower back sooner than Leap Strike or Counter Strike, and the swing it loads carries magic damage to nearby enemies as well as its target. Pressing it into the wave still puts that extra damage on a Rengar standing among the minions. Both of the others draw more mana.

Heartseeker Strike shares its critical strike rule with Spear Shot and with every swing Pantheon lands. Spear Shot works from farther out than Heartseeker Strike does. So you can finish a Rengar under fifteen percent health from outside melee.

Fights well away from this lane are still inside Grand Skyfall's reach, since the cast takes an area as its target and drops onto it after a delay. Pantheon can join an exchange he was nowhere near when it began. Damage falls off from the middle of that circle out to its edge.

Four actions arm Aegis Protection, and Spear Shot thrown into the wave counts as readily as a swing at Rengar. Aegis of Zeonia hands the block back on arrival. Grand Skyfall counts too. Using the leap as an exit fails, since it travels toward an enemy and puts you beside Rengar.
