It ensnares prey by extending arms made of vines. Losing arms to predators does not trouble it.

Its vines grow so profusely that, in the warm season, you can’t even see its eyes.

Tangrowth Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Don't let Tangrowth's 535 base stat total fool you. Regenerator is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it B-Tier as a tank. Knock Off with Rocky Helmet is the standard set.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, watch for Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Tangrowth. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Run Regenerator on Tangrowth. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Tangrowth also gets Chlorophyll and Leaf Guard, but they don't compare.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Tangrowth fills the tank role. It's a mixed attacker with base 100 Attack and 110 Sp. Atk. Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, run Knock Off, Giga Drain, Sleep Powder, and Hiddenpowerfire on Tangrowth. Knock Off is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the tank role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Tangrowth first appeared in Diamond & Pearl and has been available in 13 games across 7 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
