Draped with long vines, it resembles a shrub in appearance. It swings bundles of vines as though they were arms, wrapping them around prey to ensnare them.

Legends: Arceus Tangrowth Best Moveset

The recommended build leans into Tangrowth's strengths as a defensive wall. Assault Vest provides a special bulk boost with no status moves allowed, and HP-heavy investment EVs back that up. Regenerator rounds out the package.

Moves

Tangrowth's movepool balances level-up moves with TM options. Consistent STAB comes from Energy Ball and Absorb, and Poison and Normal coverage and more keeps opponents from switching in for free. No major gaps here.

Tangrowth Guide

  • In Legends: Arceus, Don't let Tangrowth's 535 base stat total fool you. Regenerator is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it A-Tier as a tank. Knock Off with Assault Vest is the standard set.

  • In Legends: Arceus, watch for Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Tangrowth. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Legends: Arceus, Run Regenerator on Tangrowth. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Tangrowth also gets Chlorophyll and Leaf Guard, but they don't compare.

  • In Legends: Arceus, Tangrowth fills the tank role. It's a mixed attacker with base 100 Attack and 110 Sp. Atk. Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Legends: Arceus, Tangrowth has answers, but so do you. Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Physical attackers can break through.
