Emerald Artisan Cave
A small cave near the Battle Frontier where Smeargle gather and nothing else does. Most trainers come for the stat-boosting vitamins hidden inside rather than the painters themselves.
Artisan Cave is in Hoenn, with Battle Frontier to the south. In the story it comes after Marine Cave and before Navel Rock.

A two-floor passage threaded through the Battle Frontier: enter on the east side at 1F, wind down to B1F, and you surface on the western side. Nothing inside needs an HM.
Artisan Cave Walkthrough
1F
- Walk north into Artisan Cave from the Battle Frontier entrance, take the eastern path where it splits and pick up the CarbosCarbosRaises the base SPEED stat of one Pokemon.1F, at the end of the eastern path from the exit at its end.
- Back at the split, take the western path north and climb down the ladder to B1F.

- From the ladder, follow the top corridor west to the northwest point and search the northern of the two rocks for the hidden ProteinProteinRaises the base ATTACK stat of one Pokemon..
- Walk back east to the ladder and follow the east side south, then west.
- Climb the stairs to the ledge, go northwest to two rocks and search the right one for the hidden CalciumCalciumRaises the base SP. ATK stat of one Pokemon.B1F, in the northeastern area of the map, on the more right of the two rocks on the ledge northwest of a flight of stairs (hidden).
Calcium- Follow the ledge west and the walkway south, then east and north. Take the stairs down into the north pit and search its center rock for the hidden ZincZincRaises the base SP. DEF stat of one Pokemon.B1F, down a flight of stairs, on the rock in the center of the pit north of the HP Up (hidden).
- Climb back up, head south and go down the stairs into the south-easternmost pit to pick up the HP UpHP UpRaises the base HP of one Pokemon.B1F, down a flight of stairs, in the center of the south-easternmost pit, south of the Zinc in its center.
- Climb out, work west over the walkways and stairs, and search the northern of the two rocks northeast of the entrance for the hidden IronIronRaises the base DEFENSE stat of one Pokemon.B1F, on the more northern of the two rocks northeast of the entrance (hidden).
- Walk south and west along the bottom and leave through the entrance for the Battle Frontier.

Smeargle fill Artisan Cave end to end at 100%, the most reliable place in Emerald to catch the move-copying oddball. They run level 40 to 50, so bring something that can take a hit.

Artisan Cave Guide
Almost never. You can feel your way through the dark stretches, and the cave HM that actually earns a party slot is Rock Smash, not Flash. Flash only matters for a couple of black rooms late in Victory Road, so don't waste an early move slot on it.
Yes, more than Flash is. Smashing the cracked rocks in Granite Cave turns up a Nosepass you won't meet any other way, and the ones in Victory Road hide Geodude and Graveler. Keep one party member who knows it so you're not backtracking when a breakable rock shows up.
