Gumshoos Best Moveset
110 Attack on Normal with AbilityStakeout doubling damage against opponents that just switched in. AbilityAdaptability doubles Normal TermStab from 1.5x to 2x. 88 HP provides some staying power. 45 Speed means going last, but Stakeout punishes every switch and Adaptability doubles TermStab. The moveset hits the switch-in harder than anything else at this tier level.
Stakeout doubled damage against Pokemon switching in during Gen VII (Sun & Moon). 110 Attack doubled on the switch. 45 Speed moved last.

Gumshoos Weakness
Gumshoos's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Only 1 weakness makes it relatively easy to build around defensively.

Base Stats
Gumshoos's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Speed trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 2 Attack EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Gumshoos specializes in relentlessly tracking down prey. The simple-minded Skwovet doesn’t seem to provide Gumshoos enough challenge.
Gumshoos Guide
Watch for Machamp (Fighting) when using Gumshoos. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
It depends on your team. Gumshoos at 418 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Normal coverage might be exactly what you're missing.
Don't let Gumshoos's 418 base stat total fool you. Adaptability is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as an attacker.
Run Adaptability on Gumshoos. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Gumshoos also gets Stakeout and Strong Jaw, but they don't compare.
Gumshoos's hidden ability is Adaptability. Increases the same-type attack bonus from 1.5× to 2×. Better than the standard options for competitive play.
Game Availability
Introduced in Sun & Moon, Gumshoos has appeared in 3 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
