Abomasnow Guide

  • Snow Warning changes the entire equation for Abomasnow. The 594 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a wallbreaker.

  • Abomasnow can Mega Evolve into Mega Abomasnow. That's 694 BST, up from 594. The stat redistribution often changes its best role. Mega Stone required, one per battle.

  • Abomasnow's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Nidoking (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Charizard is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage. Flying, Bug, Rock, and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 7 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Abomasnow won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Snow Warning is what you want on Abomasnow. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. On wall sets, Snow Warning pairs with Abomasnow's base 105 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.

  • Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Abomasnow is a mixed attacker with base 132 Attack and 132 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a wallbreaker.

Game Availability

Since debuting in Diamond & Pearl, Abomasnow has appeared in 14 titles over 7 generations. Along the way, it received a Mega form in Generation 6, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
