Fire is a dangerous matchup for Abomasnow — quadruple damage means one hit can end things. Snow Warning helps compensate. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets. Introduced in Gen 4.

Attack and Sp. Atk carry most of Abomasnow's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Attack and Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.

For a defensive wall, Abomasnow wants max HP and Sp. Def EVs and Lightclay. The Calm nature tilts toward special wall duty, and Snow Warning contributes without taking a move slot.

  • Snow Warning changes the entire equation for Abomasnow. The 494 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier.

  • Abomasnow's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Nidoking (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Charizard is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage. Flying, Bug, Rock, and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 7 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Snow Warning is what you want on Abomasnow. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Soundproof) work on paper but Snow Warning is what makes Abomasnow worth using.

  • At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Abomasnow is a special attacker with base 92 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

Available in 14 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Abomasnow spans 6 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
