Sceptile doesn't stand out in any single area, but it gets the job done for in-game teams. 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Been around since Gen 3. Known as the Forest Pokemon. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets.

Everything pushes toward mixed damage here. Sceptile's Speed does the work, Defense pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Speed EVs per KO. Tough to catch, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

The leaves that grow on its arms can slice down thick trees. It is without peer in jungle combat.

Recommended Teammates

Most of Sceptile's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Frenzy Plant and Leaf Storm, but Normal and Dark and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Sceptile isn't available in the wild in Scarlet & Violet. Start by transferring Treecko from Ruby, Emerald, or Brilliant Diamond. The evolution path from Treecko to Sceptile is covered in the steps below.

How to Obtain Sceptile in Scarlet & Violet

  1. Sceptile
    Step 3Sceptile
  • Sceptile works as a sweeper with 530 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list — a solid choice for the right team. That 120 base Speed does the heavy lifting.

  • Sceptile's biggest threats include Blaziken (Fire), Lapras (Ice), and Nidoking (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Grovyle evolves into Sceptile at level 36. Sceptile is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Treecko. At 530 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Overgrow is the go-to ability for Sceptile. It strengthens grass moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Unburden can work in specific setups.

  • Sceptile is a physical attacker with base 85 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 120 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • Sceptile appears in 16 games, including Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, and Emerald.

Debuting in Ruby & Sapphire, Sceptile appears in 16 games across 7 generations. A reliable presence in most mainline games, typically found through wild encounters.
