Is Magnemite Good in FireRed & LeafGreen Playthrough?
Electric/Steel in FRLG, unlike the pure Electric Magnemite from the originals. The Steel typing adds resistances the Gen 1 version never had. AbilityMagnet Pull traps opposing Steel-types, preventing them from switching. Handles Misty and Lorelei through Electric. The type upgrade is the biggest change in the remake.
Brock's typing presses Magnemite's defenses.
Magnemite has the type edge here and should clean up Misty's team.

Magnemite Weakness
Ground, Fire, and Fighting moves hit Magnemite for super-effective damage. Ground hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Poison-type moves can't touch it at all. 12 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Ground |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Fighting |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Normal, Electric, Grass, Ice, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Flying, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Poison |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

Magnemite Evolutions
Magnemite evolves into Magneton. It's a two-stage chain with the method shown below. No compatible partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are average hatch time. The evolved forms gain up to 140 total stats over Magnemite. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Magnemite is genderless and can only breed with Ditto. Part of the Mineral egg group.
FRLG Magnemite Best Moveset
Electric/Steel provides nine resistances at pre-evolution stats too low to leverage. AbilityMagnet Pull traps opposing Steel types, a powerful ability wasted on this stat line. One evolution from Magneton's dominant moveset.

Moves List
Without TMs, Magnemite's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal coverage on top of Zap Cannon and Thunder for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.
