Stats & Training
Magnemite's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, HP trails, 1 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 1 Sp. Atk stat exp, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
The electricity emitted by the units on each side of its body cause it to become a strong magnet.
Magnemite Weakness
Ground, Fire, and Fighting moves hit Magnemite for super-effective damage. Ground hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Poison-type moves can't touch it at all. 12 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Ground |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Fighting |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Normal, Electric, Grass, Ice, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Flying, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Poison |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def

Moves
Without TMs, Magnemite's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Rock coverage on top of Zap Cannon and Thunder for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Magnemite Guide
Level 30 gets you Magneton. Not the fastest evolution, so consider Exp. Share or route grinding to speed it up.
In Crystal, Magnemite does the job early-game if you need a Electric/Steel type on your team. Evolve it into Magneton before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
You can find Magnemite in Crystal. The Locations section has the full breakdown of routes and encounter details. It also appears in 20 other games across the series.
Game Availability
